About Us.

St Mary-the-Virgin, Pilsley is a parish within the North Wingfield Team of five churches situated a few miles south of Chesterfield.  As a church we are called to serve the village of Pilsley and to make disciples for Jesus.  If we were to label ourselves we would call ourselves:

•    Anglican.

We are Anglican (Church of England).  This means that we are part of a global network of churches.  We have a rich spiritual heritage and respect the leadership of our bishop.

•    Evangelical.

We are Evangelical and therefore really value the Bible as our Authority in belief and practice.  We believe everyone needs to make a personal response to the claims of Jesus Christ.

•    Charismatic.

We are Charismatic and believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and that we should expect to encounter the living God in our worship.  We also value silence and listening to God in prayer.  Our faith leads us to social action.
